What is in a name?

Fás is a wee, Gaelic word that means growth.  Mentor, you will recall from your high school CliffsNotes, was the name of the sage advisor who guided the King's son, Telemachus in Homer's Odyssey.  Athena, the goddess of wisdom, impersonated Mentor, assuming his physical form.  (So, he had that going for him, which is nice.)

Through the ages, "Mentor" still translates as "advisor, counselor, guide."  So, it is fitting that Fásmentor, a blending of peat and mythos, is all about mentoring growth.

While this may appear to be a random combination arrived at over too many glasses of Irish whiskey, this is only partially true.  The idea behind “Fásmentor" is uncomplicated and essential.

Business Development is People Development

At Fásmentor, we help purpose-driven leaders connect “business development to people development” in the context of the organization’s values. We coach and support both individuals and teams.  This work includes helping groups align on how growth serves their collective best interests enabling teammates to understand their roles, and how they impact outcomes.  This work equips “Fásmentors” to carry the lessons forward across the organization.

Winning new business becomes an important strategic endeavor when it has a broader impact. It builds reputations, helps shape culture, aids talent development, and sparks innovation.  It affects people's lives, gives them new confidence and skills, builds community, and inspires actions that benefit others.

That’s what Fásmentor is all about.  We help people collaborate to win on behalf of others, and many good things happen in the process.
